The northwest corner of the Des Moines Metropolitan Area is where you will find the city of Urbandale. This city was incorporated back in 1917, and when this took place, there was a significant amount of farmland between the developed area of Des Moines and the newly founded Urbandale. The first census took in the city in 1920 recorded that 298 people lived inside the city limits. The current census has recorded over 40,000 residents, making this one of the fastest growing locations in all of Iowa.
With all the new people flocking to the area, there is no question that a number of events and community activities are planned each year, some celebrating the heritage of the community and others just for fun. Some of the current events and activities going on in the community are highlighted here.
